It's summer canning season! My mother-in-law is an excellent canner, but I am just getting started. Are you wondering what canning might be? Well, it's the art of taking fresh fruits and vegetables and preserving them for later use. Think "canned goods aisle" at your local grocery store, only do-it-yourself rather than factory!
The first thing you need when you start the canning process is good lighting in your kitchen. You may even want to consider recessed lighting as an attractive option!
I am going to be getting a few things from CSN stores to begin my canning journey. Check back soon for a review and to see how my adventures turn out!

Coming Soon - Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue
This morning I saw a commercial on TV for a new Tinker Bell movie I just know my two daughters will love. Well, today’s first day of Summer, and the Fairies of Pixie Hollow are sharing a special fly-by ‘sneak peek’ of their latest adventure, TINKER BELL and the GREAT FAIRY RESCUE. Yep, that's the movie I saw on the commercial! I am so excited!
Watch a clip here!
ABOUT THE FILM:
What would you do if you met a fairy? Witness the historic moment when Tinker Bell first meets a human being, and it’s not who you think.
Years before meeting Wendy and the Lost Boys, Tinker Bell met Lizzy, a little girl with a steadfast belief in the power of pixie dust and the magic land of fairies. During the fairies’ summer visit to the flowering meadows of England, two very different worlds unite for the first time and Tink develops a special bond with a curious child in need of a friend. As her fellow fairies launch a daring rescue, Tinker Bell takes a huge risk, putting her own safety and the future of all fairykind in jeopardy.
Experience Disney’s astonishing all-new movie about the true power of faith and friendship. Bursting with excitement and imagination, Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue is magical entertainment for the whole family. You might even learn to fly.
Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue releases as a Blu-ray Combo Pack, DVD and Movie Download on Tuesday, September 21. The film features the voices of Mae Whitman as Tinker Bell, Pamela Adlon as Vidia, Kristin Chenoweth (LOVE HER!) as Rosetta, Lucy Liu as Silvermist, Raven Symone as Iridessa, Lauren Mote as Lizzy and Michael Sheen as Dr. Griffith (Lizzy’s Father).

National Men's Health Week! Happy Father's Day!
When's the last time your husband went to the doctor? If you husband is like mine, he's a little stoic and can pretty much avoid the doctor.
New research has found that men are 31% less likely than women to have visited a doctor within the past year? That right. Men report making fewer routine health care appointments compared with women (56.5% versus 73.8%).
It's National Men's Health Week (June 14 - 20), and in conjunction, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) and the Ad Council are starting a new movement on behalf of their national public service advertising campaign designed to encourage middle-age men to learn which preventive medical tests they need to get and when to get them.
Looking for a Father's Day card? Go here and get a one that will tell your Honey you love him AND encourage him to visit the doctor!
Meeting some resistance from your hubs about going to the doctor? Tell him to go here and take a quiz to see how much he really knows about maintaining his health.
Encourage the all the men you know to visit this site, which provides recommended ages for preventive medical tests, a health care quiz designed to test knowledge of preventive health care, tips for talking with doctors, a glossary of consumer health terms, and links to online resources to find more medical information. Basically, it's everything you and your man needs to know about staying healthy and strong and with you as long as possible!
